The year 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) on the Florida Atlantic University Boca Raton campus.
Since OLLI Boca’s first season in 1980 that hosted 50 participants, the organization has grown to more than 27,000 attendees per year. In that time OLLI Boca has been working to offer comfortable spaces where patrons can participate in a wide variety of events, lectures and special programs.
“2020 is big for OLLI Boca as we celebrate 40 years of outstanding lifelong learning, “ said Benjamin Joella, MM, associate executive director, OLLI, Boca. “We plan to celebrate this milestone every chance we get during the year and are excited to offer excellent featured presenters locally, and from around the world like Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham, Ela Gandhi, the granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi, and U.S. Congressman, Ted Deutch.”
Recent upgrades to the venue include revamped audio, video and lighting systems in the Friedberg auditorium, and T-coil hearing assist systems in the new classrooms that were added in 2019.
A new video recording system will also be introduced in 2020 that will provide alternate viewing opportunities so that patrons will never have to miss an event or series that they have registered for.
