Dramawise: Death of a Salesman

Instructor
Gary Cadwallader, MFA
WS4012

Course Description

Willy Loman is holding tight to his vision of the American Dream, despite its devastating impact on his family. "Death of a Salesman," by Arthur Miller, is regarded as one of the most important plays of the 20th century and a searing look at illusion vs. reality. In this interactive discussion about the Palm Beach Dramaworks production, PBD's Gary Cadwallader examines the characters, their relationships, and the major themes of disillusion and the false promise of the American dream. Multimedia clips supporting the discussion are utilized to enhance and support the story. Participants receive a copy of the play beforehand and a comprehensive, informative PBD Dramaguide written specifically for this discussion. After an in-depth conversation, participants leave with a deeper understanding of the play, and the impact of deception that devastates one family. Space is limited.
