Course Description

Emily Dickinson is a giant of American arts and letters but was virtually unknown in her lifetime. This enigmatic poet is richly revealed in William Luce's play, “The Belle of Amherst.” In this interactive discussion about the Palm Beach Dramaworks production, PBD's Gary Cadwallader examines Dickinson's life and poetry, relationships, and newfound popularity. Multimedia clips supporting the discussion will be used to enhance the understanding of the production. Participants receive a copy of the play beforehand and a comprehensive PBD Dramaguide written specifically for this discussion. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of the play and the period in which it is set.
