Course Description

This presentation will review 2020 and address the major decisions made in U.S. foreign policy by the Trump administration. Also discussed will be the position of the U.S. Congress, before and after the November election. Phares will update participants regarding the current state of geopolitics, particularly in the greater Middle East and other conflict areas, focusing particularly on the conflicts with Iran and the Jihadists in several theaters, including Iraq, Syria, Turkey, the Gulf, Libya, and beyond.

About the Instructor

  • Walid Phares, Ph.D., an expert on geopolitics, served as Foreign Policy advisor for several Presidential candidates. He is the Co-Secretary General of the Transatlantic Parliamentary Group, a transatlantic caucus of members from the U.S. Congress and European Parliament. He advises lawmakers and leaders from the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. He previously served as an MSNBC Terrorism analyst and frequently appears in international media for English, Arabic, and French interviews. In 1994, he founded the Florida Society for Middle East Studies (FSMES) and has served as an advisor to human rights NGOs since 1992. He is the author of fifteen books and will be publishing his next book in 2022.
