The Royals' Future: What Next After Elizabeth?

Instructor
Margery Marcus
SMSD09142

Course Description

Remember when Queen Elizabeth thought 1992 an “annus horribilis,” a horrible year? The Queen survived Charles and Camilla’s scandalous behavior and the destruction of much of Windsor Castle, badly damaged by fire. However, 2021 was worse for the Queen. Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah cast the Firm as coldhearted racists, the Duke of Edinburgh died, and Andrew’s relationship with Jeffry Epstein disgraced the family. After Elizabeth’s death (she is 96), will Charles overcome anti-monarchy sentiments? Will the younger generation overcome the public’s disgust with Harry, Meghan, and Andrew? Are the royals even relevant today? Dr. Marcus looks at the Monarchy at a crossroads in this lecture which includes a colorful PowerPoint. Space is limited.
